EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Under San Diego Unified Port District (District or Port) Board of Port Commissioners (BPC or Board) Policy No. 018-Board Advisory Committees, each of the advisory committees shall develop a general work plan with goals for the calendar year. On March 21, 2018, the Accessibility Advisory Committee approved a work plan for calendar year 2018, which is presented to the Board for consideration and approval.

Adopt a Resolution approving Calendar Year 2018 Work Plan for the Accessibility Advisory Committee Pursuant to Board of Port Commissioners Policy No. 018-Board Advisory Committees.

DISCUSSION:

The Accessibility Advisory Committee is an eight-member committee representing a broad spectrum of disabilities including mental and physical disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Its overall mission is to educate, advise and assist the Board in ensuring that all services, programs and facilities on Port Tidelands are fully usable and accessible to all. The Accessibility Advisory Committee's vision is Universal Design, which is the design of products and environments to be usable by all to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design.
