RESOLUTION ADOPTING AND APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 2016-25 TO ABHE & SVOBODA, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $571,321 FOR THE STRUCTURAL REPAIRS TO BROADWAY PIER PROJECT, AS AUTHORIZED BY THE BOARD IN THE FY 16/17 MAJOR MAINTENANCE BUDGET PROGRAM

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This action will adopt and approve plans and specifications and authorize the award of a major maintenance construction contract for repairs of the existing deteriorated structural components of the Broadway Pier.
The plans and specifications define the contract work including repairing piles/concrete encasements, pile cap areas, structural beam areas, and deck soffit locations of the pier. This repair will prevent further deterioration and will maintain the pier facility in good condition.
On May 16th, 2017, four (4) bids were received ranging from $571,321 to $1,280,890. The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in the amount of $571,321. Award to this bidder is recommended.

Adopt a resolution approving plans and specifications and awarding Contract No. 2016-25 to Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. in the amount of $571,321 for the Structural Repairs to Broadway Pier project, as authorized by the Board in the FY 16/17 Major Maintenance program.

FISCAL IMPACT:
This multi-year project is included in the FY 16/17 Major Maintenance Program budget. A budget of $575,000 has been allocated in the FY 17/18 Major Maintenance Program to complete construction.
Approval of this agenda will authorize the expenditure of $571,321 from the Major Maintenance Capital funding appropriation.
