EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Since 1960, American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week (NPWW). NPWW is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who work in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services collectively known as public works. Across the nation, NPWW calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. This year NPWW will be celebrated May 17-23, 2020. The week seeks to increase public awareness of their contributions as well as to enlighten the public about the duties, practices, and goals of public works professionals.

Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution proclaiming May 17-23, 2020 National Public Works Week at the Port of San Diego

Since 1960, American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week (NPWW). NPWW is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who work in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services collectively known as public works. Across the nation, NPWW challenges everyone to think about their communities as a symphony of essential services, working in concert to create a great place to live.
