RESOLUTION APPROVING AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT FOR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (PRESIDENT/CEO)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Executive Director (President/CEO) position reports directly to the Board of Port Commissioners (Board). The terms and conditions under which this position serves are memorialized in an Employment Agreement. This Employment Agreement for the President/CEO is being presented for Board consideration and approval.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a Resolution approving an Employment Agreement for the Executive Director (President/CEO)
FISCAL IMPACT:
The salary and benefits for the President/CEO have been budgeted and are included in the FY2020/2021 Operating Budget.
COMPASS STRATEGIC GOALS:
This agenda item is part of the reporting system to promote transparency and open communication with the community and supports the following Strategic Goals:

DISCUSSION:
The President/CEO serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the San Diego Unified Port District (District). This position reports directly to the Board and directs and administers the activities, operations and services of the District. After a nationwide search, the Board has chosen Joseph Stuyvesant (Stuyvesant) as President/CEO. Attachment A is the proposed agreement between the District and Stuyvesant.
General Counsel's Comments:
The Office of the General Counsel has reviewed the agenda sheet and the Employment Agreement of the President/CEO, as presented to it, and approves them as to form and legality.
Environmental Review:
The proposed Board action, including without limitation, a resolution approving an employment agreement for the executive director, does not constitute a "project" under the definition set forth in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15378 because it would not have the potential to result in a ...
